About Us

MHE Engineers Ltd. (MHE) is a Canadian company co-founded in 2021 by Professor Hesham El Naggar and Zeyad Elsherbiny, bringing together over 40 years of combined engineering experience. Prior to co-founding MHE, Professor El Naggar operated an engineering consultancy that provided services worldwide since 1999, forming the foundation for MHE’s deep technical expertise.

Professor Hesham El Naggar is an internationally acclaimed engineer and a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineers with expertise in the fields of soil-structure interaction, foundation dynamics, and geotechnical earthquake engineering. He has advanced the state-of-the-art in analysis and design of foundations for dynamic loads and contributed to the development of analysis and design tools used by practicing engineers to design resilient and sustainable foundations for critical infrastructure. His cutting-edge work on foundation dynamics and geotechnical earthquake engineering has been incorporated into design guidelines recommended by regulatory bodies and learned societies. Dr. El Naggar is the lead developer of the computer program DYNA6, used globally for the response analysis and design of foundations subjected to different types of dynamic loading.

Zeyad Elsherbiny is a professional structural engineer with a strong background in geotechnical engineering. He earned his master’s degree from the University of Western Ontario focusing on helical (screw) pile foundations. Zeyad brings over 15 years of experience across all stages of engineering projects life cycle, from conceptual design and front-end engineering design (FEED) to detailed design and construction support. His areas of expertise include structural and foundation design, remediation of existing foundations and structures, vibration diagnostics, soil-structure interaction, forensic engineering, finite element analysis, and structural dynamics. He also specializes in designing modular structures, helical (screw) piles, and structures and foundations supporting vibrating machinery.

MHE provides consulting services on major industrial and infrastructure projects, including: design of offshore and marine structures, major power plants, infrastructure for renewable energy projects, petrochemical plants, cement plants, mining facilities, oil and gas and LNG projects and transportation infrastructure.

MHE provides technical seminars and training courses on geotechnical earthquake engineering, design of structures and foundations for vibrating equipment, and design of helical pile foundations.

MHE technical expertise covers soil-structure interaction; structural dynamics; foundations and structures for vibrating equipment; structural modularization; geotechnical earthquake engineering (site-specific response analysis, liquefaction assessment, seismic stability of slopes and retaining structures); offshore and harbour engineering; static and dynamic analysis of piles and footings; vibration monitoring and mitigation; forensic engineering; and measurement of dynamic soil properties; construction and long-term performance of deep foundations and buried structures; vertical shafts; excavation shoring; finite element modeling; and ground improvement techniques.

MHE holds a permit to practice with APEGA in the province of Alberta and a certificate of authorization with PEO in the province of Ontario.
